Position of adverbs in the sentence

Generally, we place adverbs in a sentence in this order:

  • Adverbs of manner
  • Adverbs of place
  • Adverbs of time

The adverbs of more particular time are place first, then adverbs with more general time. It means time, day or date, then month and lastly year and century.

For example:

At 6:00 a.m. in the morning I go on a walk, sleep in the afternoon all the year round.

but we can disturb this order when we want to emphasize one more than the other.

Example:

Last week on Sunday the forces landed on the seapost in the morning swiftly.
